Getting there & around

Fly into OAX — it’s 25–35 minutes from the center, 130 MXN by shared van or around 400 MXN by registered airport taxi (June 2026). First-class ADO buses connect from CDMX in about 6.5 hours if you’d rather not fly.

In town you won’t need transport at all: the center is flat and walkable end to end. For the valleys — Monte Albán, Mitla, the mezcal palenques — colectivos and tour vans leave from the blocks south of the market, or hire a driver for the day (1,500–2,000 MXN split between passengers). Uber doesn’t operate here; DiDi does, and taxis de sitio are reliable.
